Chopstick Savior
Faced with rush hour traffic, I was already leery
that any meal I’d cook tonight would turn out rather dreary.
This day was not abnormal. At its end, I was a wreck.
My colleagues in the office? A true pain in the neck.
My story is not poignant, but it’s sad enough, I guess.
Most days I end up bushed once they are finished, I confess.
So faced with thoughts of cooking, once again I murmur, “Phooey!”
And thank the Lord for takeout. Tonight? Egg rolls and chop suey.
Prompt words today are bush, abnormal, poignant and wreck. Since this is National chop suey Day, I’m adding chop suey to the prompt list.
If you feel inclined to help me honor chop suey today, please give a link to your post in comments below. At the very least, eat Chinese today, take a photo, post it and send me the link. Happy Chop Suey. (If I’m not wrong, it was an Americanization of Chinese food, anyway.)
That is just what happens here 🙂

Are you going to eat chop suey? I will if you will. Believe it or not, I know where to get it here in Mexico. We have two Chinese restaurants in town.

We always get a takeaway when the Culinary Queen doesn’t feel like cooking

I hope your Chinese doesn’t give you as bad indigestion as mine gave me. Enjoyed it as I was eating it, though. I drank gin and tonics with mine!!!

Are you sure it wasn’t the gin? 🙂

Someone has suggested that in the past.. but they blamed the tonic.

You are such a good sport, Cee. Just got back from my Chinese meal. General chicken did me in, I fear.

Very cute, Judy! I don’t do chop suey, but we are having spring rolls tonight – homemade, not take out. I hope that helps you celebrate.

I have terrible indigestion from my Chinese meal, but at least I tried! Bet your spring rolls were better than mine.

Sorry about your indigestion, but that’s why I don’t eat at Chinese restaurants. Mine are baked, not fried, and contain no mystery ingredients.

We didn’t eat chop suey that day but we had spring rolls at the least. That and some delicious fried tofu.
