Before it’s Too Late

We could use a sentient being in the White House about now.
Surely his staunchest backers must be wondering how
they can save face. How can they be suffering no qualms?
You can tell them by their panicked looks and their sweating palms.
How can they stand behind him? How can they fail to see
how he’s cast our ship of state into a stormy sea?
Already, they’re too slow to recognize the fact that they
jeopardize our country. Their fealty just may
bring about our final fall. This game that he’s been playing at,
remember, when he’s gone, is still the world that we’ll be staying at.
Judges, remove your blinders. Senators, seize the rein.
Acknowledge that our captain has slowly gone insane.
It’s not too late for action, but if we do not act,
we’ll go the way of other fallen empires. That’s a fact!

Prompts today are slow, cast, qualm, sentience and sea.

You definitely wouldn’t like a recent article I read. Canadian journalist and writer Conrad Black wrote a long article in one of our national newspapers, contradicting an editorial in another, the Globe & Mail. the latter predicted that Trump is history. Black, listing the impressive gains the US has made in the last four years, predicts that Trump will win by a landslide in the next election. I guess time will tell, but it will be a wild race for sure.

It occurred to me the other day that, as the impeachment inquiry expands, Pence is becoming a target as well as Trump. If they were both to be impeached and removed from office, we would then have President Pelosi! This could only happen for a short period of time, unless the Dems stretch things out till after the November elections, but it’s an interesting thought!

They need to cut the man down off the cross before we are all crucified along with him. Just a travesty that they’ve let it go on for so long. The man never made much sense but now he is just blathering and making decisions on his own against all advice that is affecting the lives of us all. And now I am just blathering on and stating the obvious, aren’t I?

Agree — but the House will indict him, McConnell will bring it up before the Senate, and somebody will move to table the trial and nothing will happen! His comment about his infinite wisdom seems to say it all!

It may be this new Turkey fiasco will turn Republicans against him and they’ll see impeachment as a way out. Would be smart of them. And they could run a different candidate.
