About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

I’m going back to an old post to leave this comment. I think it fits here, but I don’t necessarily want everyone to see it.
Normally I stay out of American politics but just read an article about a woman who ran in Georgia and was elected to congress, Marjorie Taylor Greene. If she really made the statements the news articles printed, I am really dismayed — and she’s calling on Christians to support her “Blast all the Democrats. This is war!” platform.
I see where you’re coming from with concerns about (professing) evangelical Christians aligning themselves with a very violent Right! All I can say is, there’s a “God Bless America” religion that has grown rampant in the US — and it has nothing to do with Jesus or his teachings.
I fear this goes into more than Rs against Ds, Left versus Right. I suspect the political climate these days is being fueled by forces, anarchist and/or alien, determined to destroy all respect for authority in the US. To see professing Christians — those who should stand for peace and tolerance — caught up in these churning waters makes my heart ache. I haven’t forgotten my article about the two storm systems and intend to post it soon.

I agree wholeheartedly with all you’ve said here, Christine. I hate the hypocrisy of those who profess to be one thing and make their decisions according to a completely different set of ethics. I am what I do, not what I profess to believe! You said it all perfectly. I really feel heartsick and don’t know how we are ever going to return to sanity in the U.S. Money truly is the root of all evil.
