Enjoyed this tiny concert so I’m sharing it.

If you’re anything like us, you’re missing your regular drip of live music to keep you going. Luckily, lots of mini-concerts are still happening online, and we can tune into to get an intimate musical fix.
In November of 2019, Jon Batiste performed his tiny desk concert for NPR with a special twist. Instead of his regular band, he performed this four song concert with all-female collaborators — Endea Owens on acoustic bass, Negah Santos on percussion, Sarah Thawer on drums, and Celisse Henderson on guitar and vocals — and the outcome was outstanding.

Every time I watch him perform, I’m amazed at how good he is. Especially at piano. He’s as good as anyone I’ve seen and has that sureness of touch I always wanted but never managed to achieve. He really IS brilliant.

Yes, Indeed! Jon Batiste, the pride of Kenner, Louisiana, is friggin’ amazing! He’s been the musical director (a sadly underrated title) on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show forever, and watching those tiny moments he and Stephen interacted while they were on Covid isolation break are amazing. (Ok, I have said “amazing” twice. I might again.) I just love this Tiny Desk Concert he did. (Ok, NPR does LOTS of cool TDCs!)
Here’s a cool tv spot he did with Colbert prior to accepting the Late Show gig. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwHSDuEG6qc

Loved this short concert. I so miss live music and going to the symphony. This young man is wonderful, and to see four young sisters as musicians with him warmed my heart. Thanks, Judy, for sharing. I certainly chose to follow the site.
