If that is a stag beetle it is one that, as children, we would see on the pavements lying on its back unable to right itself. We would take a stick to turn it over – we would definitely not use our fingers
Looked up green stag beetle and they are much more iridescent so I think this is a rhinoceros. Same effect if pinched by them, however. Ouch. Thanks for commenting.
That horned beetle is some creature. I’m glad I haven’t met him in a dark corner!

The black ones are three times the size of this one. Fascinating creatures but yes, I wouldn’t want to encounter one unawares.

Derrick, I think it is a Rhinoceros Beetle (also known as an Eastern Stag Beetle) but you may be right. They do look alike. Were yours green?
