Haha — I was wondering who India and Lily are! A lovely flower!

Do you know the story? When India was fighting off the British, they used the huge hard black seeds of this lily in place of shot. It worked and the next year the whole field came up in India Shot lilies from the seeds they had fired. I love the Metaphor. Like the daisy the girl stuck in the end of a rifle during sixties and seventies Vietnam War protests.

No — I didn’t know the story — but how wonderful! I love the idea of a field memorial where so many shots were fired! I had forgotten about the daisy in the 60’s and 70’s, too. People are so very creative when they need to be!

Great story! I didn’t know of it, but I’m glad to hear it. What a great way to set the fields ablaze with lilies!
