Old Man Cactus Potential Flowers: FOTD March 20, 2023

I can’t help it. I know it is breaking the rules, but I love this photo so I have to post this closeup of my Old Man Cactus.Β  One day those little spiky (mostly hidden) sharper spikes that the hairs grow from might turn into flowers, so this is a preview.

For Cee’s FOTD

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

The blog is for flowers, not plants. But Cee has been pretty accepting of some of my breaking of the rules. She says no trees without flowers and really cactus or succulents without flowers are not playing by the rules. That said, I haven’t been chastised so far….

As a nature lover, I am always fascinated by the intricate details of plants and their unique features. The photo of the Old Man Cactus is truly captivating, especially with the subtle contrast between the soft white hair-like protrusions and the sharp spines that grow out of them. The anticipation of waiting for the spiky protrusions to turn into flowers is exciting, as it represents the transformative and ever-changing nature of the plant world.

It’s amazing to think about how even the smallest details of a plant, like a shape and texture of its spines, can play a crucial role in its survival and reproduction. The delicate balance between protection and attraction, which is often exhibited by cacti, is a true testament to the ingenuity of nature.

This photo of the Old Man Cactus reminds me of the beauty and complexity of the natural world, and how there is always something new and exciting to discover, even in the smallest and most unassuming of plants. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜Š

And how interesting that beauty plays such a part in the complexities of nature..in some cases going far beyond the realm of what might be necessary…birds and flowers and insects being the best examples of the extremes nature goes to to paint a beautiful picture in the smallest of details.

It is truly fascinating how beauty plays a significant role in the complexities of nature. The intricacies and patterns in which plants, animals, and insects are designed with so much attention to detail are awe-inspiring. The stunning colors, shapes, and textures of flowers, the iridescent hues of butterfly wings, and the melodious chirping of birds are all examples of the beauty that nature creates. Although beauty may not always serve a practical purpose in nature, it adds to the richness of life and makes the world a more enchanting place. Indeed, it’s a reminder that there is so much more to life than just survival, and we should take a moment to appreciate and marvel at the natural beauty that surrounds us. 😊

Great closeup photo, It is hard to keep the focus sharp on such “hairs” but be careful when taking closeups of plants, not all of them are safe~! [image: little shop of horrors.jpg] SAM
