The other day, I went out to inspect the wall that Jose had repaired and painted that day. For the first time in a long time, it was devoid of coverage by plants and accessible–which also made all the wall damage viewable as well. It was as I was inspecting his admirable work on the wall that I suddenly realized why it was so open to view—a solid line of leaf cutter ants moving so rapidly along a bare branch laden with the incisor-chopped pieces of my bougainvillea vine! As usual, I became fascinated by their industry and organization. Met with an obstacle, they simply switched to the bottom of the branch and walked upside down. An interesting nice read in addition to your photos, Judy. To think they continue on with their work even they have to go upside down to do so. I think I might be envious of that trait. lol. Like you, I hate to kill any bugs, insects or spiders and sometimes it is indeed, us or them. Thank you so much for coming along. Awesome photos.

Thanks..they are so organized.. amazing. And there has to be some sort of telepathy going on as the minute one has a problem, they are surrounded by helpers.

It is my front wall. They are walking across the limbs of my bougainvillea bush with leaves from the same bush!

There are thousands down in my garden, forming a column past the turnon valves for my pool. I think I will leave them be, however, as they just seem to be carrying leaf litter—not green leaves and flowers. Let them clean up for me.
