“Summer’s End”
In the shadows of my past, the crow goes soaring higher,
rising from the creek’s mist to the summer sunset’s fire.
Lately a lonely sentinel at the barn’s far peak,
it filters time now through its wings, the past held in its beak.
Yes, I still remember it belting its harsh caw
as it lifted in the air with summer in its maw.
Tomorrow the first day of school, it marked vacation’s end.
As lazy water in the creek meandered ’round the bend,
bound to some deep forest, far from this boundless plain,
I watched free careless summer vanish once again.
For the Sunday Whirl Wordle 608 the words are: mist creek belt shadows forest summer still rising crow filters time sentinel

OH WOW~!!! WHERE DID THAT COME FROM~? Beautiful Image description: a born again crow with wings in a v shape flying over the a misty creek, next to the woods, looking for a school of fish, with nothing in its beak~! GREAT~! Love it~!

My comment was unkind, and mean of me~!,,,,, I Loved both the photo, (at the time I wondered if you had actually taken it~! ) and the poem which I considered well above even some of your best. (That went into my keeper file to be read again many times later) But at the time I happened to have Monty Python’s Flying Circus booming on the TV~!! (though I was not watching it), But I must have caught their asinine pessimistic attitude just the clop, clop, clop, or flop, flop from them.
It is hot as Hades here and I have been outside cutting branches again.. Some day I will get that frozen “Branch Derision” mess cleaned up, though you can not much see my progress. I only work an hour or so on it each morning before it gets too hot.

Which comment, Sam? I don’t remember any unkind comment from you, ever.

THE ONE BEFORE THIS ONE WHERE I WROTE A SICK STATEMENT ABOUT THE CROW~! More later, once again I may have changed my mind about my trip South.
By the way I am no longer called “Someone” on your site.

Glad you have regained your identity. I wasn’t insulted by your crow comment. It didn’t sound sick to me. Keep me informed re/ your trip south.

Well, whoever took it, it’s a fine photo. They must have been slightly above the crow to get that angle. Up a tree?

Perhaps just a good lens.

I good lens won’t get you above the bird so he was either at a window higher than the crow or up a tree 😀 The good lens got him the incredible DETAILS, though.
