“There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all the drama and people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad, and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right, leave the ones who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is a part of life, getting back up is living.” –Jóse N. Harris
This quote was part of a longer piece sent to me by a friend. Since it was not attributed, I did a bit of sleuthery and found it repeated dozens of times in different places on the internet. Luckily, I eventually found it attributed to Jóse N. Harris in two different places, so that’s what I’m going with. It is the best advice I’ve found for this time of life… or any time of life. Very good advice indeed!

Thanks for sending this Judy, it is the exact problem that I am trying to deal with right now. But maybe you too should look into a mirror. We A-type sometimes get “over our head” not wanting to hurt feelings or over achieving on things that are not a real benefit to our lives or ego, especially when those lives MUST slow down a bit as we age~!
Well look at OLD Sam giving advice.
So again, thanks, I know that I too get too wordy than I need to be and there are some, out there, that do not deserve or even want it~!

I have a copy of “Mi Vida” by Jóse N. Harris and keep it on the window sill shelf, behind my chair, along with all the books by Kahlil Gibran. Often I open one of these books when I need to give myself a good “talking to” about a BAD decision or expression I have made, or just need to face a negative turn in life. Harris has a way of helping you THINK and calm down.

Great advice. I try to not follow negative people. Sometimes I even have to shut down some friends who are so jaded they never see the positive side of life.

It is very hard. Especially when they are longtime friends, but sometimes is necessary for one’s own survival.
