Toilet Paper Blues (and Greens and Yellows)

Toilet Paper Blues (and Greens and Yellows)
Once paper for the toilet came in every hue—
green or blue or yellow to wipe away our poo.
And though we all liked paper that was soft and squeezable,
most people felt that color wasn’t very feasible.
which had the best capacity for capturing the light.
Of all the other choices, white was still the best
to help you find the toilet on your midnight quest.
Now in the tissue aisle, no color meets our sight.
Green and blue and yellow seem to have taken flight.
We use our toilet paper for what it’s created for
without the added problem of matching our decor.
My poem isn’t delicate, it mentions words like poo.
I hope this does not put off such proper folks as you.
You will perhaps forgive me for my word choice this one time,
for feces’s not poetic and caca doesn’t rhyme!
Fandango’s prompt for the day was Toilet. I couldn’t resist reposting this poem from a few years ago..Hope no one takes offense.
I see that we may also have a serious vocabulary problem in common, I often sneak in a word of French, Spanish, or sometimes Latin, thinking that others will not even notice~!
One thing my maid does each week is to turn the roll with the end facing out and then put those “cute” little pointed folds in the ends. When they leave I turn them back around to the “cat owner position” They will just never learn~!
When that is the way it has been done for years, grabbing at the roll and making a spin by flipping upward, sometimes comes up with an almost empty hand at a most urgent time.
ps: sent that photo via email.

Yolanda and I do the opposite. I turn the TP end out, always, and she always turns it in where it is hard to find.

Oh YES, and those cats will notice it in seconds~! Did you find a better way to fix this~? Maybe a unit that does not spin rapidly~?

No my cats aren’t often in the house.

Love it. Only problem is a formatting one where the two lines above the photo appear to belong at the beginning of the second stanza instead of at the top of the post. (At least that’s how it appears on my iPhone.)

Oops.. Didn’t read this until 9 hours after posting. Thanks for pointing that out! I’m surprised no one else did. Now corrected.

How could one take offense at such humor?!

A very pragmatic poem Judy.

Your word choice is comparatively conservative, Judy.

We bought hose-style bidets for each bathroom. I have trouble when I’m away from home. I’m used to being actually CLEAN when I’m done with business. I think they stopped using colored TP because the color polluted even more? I remember when it disappeared — in the 1970s or maybe 80s? I never bought it anyway. White matches our bathroom walls just fine 😀

We should be very careful with colour if we want to be sure that our bum is clean

Poo or no poo, I’ve been hunting all over for poets who could rhyme. It’s so rare, it’s like finding gold! Such a treat for me :0)

I published my 10,000th blog earlier this year, Wingman, and at least a third of them contain rhymed and metered poems, so have fun!!! Thanks for commenting…
