About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

I don’t think I’ve ever spent as much time looking at the moon as I have since moving to Mexico. I think it is probably because I so often swim at night instead of during the day. It seems like it is always beautiful here, no matter what the phase or weather.

    UNFORTUNATELY SUNLIGHT OUTSHINES MOONLIGHT

While sailing through the universe in a rocket,
You cannot pluck moonlight to bring in your pocket
yet unasked and unbidden, it will follow you home.
But it will soon disappear when the sky turns blue,
and your moonlight will no longer be with you.
Wouldn’t you prefer to see it in the night sky too~?

Tsk tsk. You broke the rules. You weren’t supposed to write a poem!! She said only prose under 144 words. So, I wrote very very short prose!!! Well under 144 words, I might add. Aren’t you going to send your story for the Ojo?

I beg your pardon, it said that I could use any form I desired~! Rhyme is a form and I think, write, and like RHYME~! Quit correcting me or I will quit, sit in a corner, and pout while writing other things that don’t make sense. By the way my answer to you this morning lost formatting and decided once again that I was “SOMEONE”, I think that may have come from a bug in wordpress, it left here looking OK . I wonder what is going on at WordPress, it also used an old name from long ago.

I beg your pardon and quote:

Welcome to Prosery, your opportunity to write a short piece of prose, (not prose poetry and not a poem) that includes a given line from a poem. You are allowed to break up the line with punctuation and capitalization but you may not insert within the chosen line. Your prose may be flash fiction or creative non fiction with a beginning, middle and end. It must not exceed 144 words.

Your prose story reads likes a micro poem. You had me counting syllables to see if it fits into a form😊
Happy you dropped by my blog

I would guess that is the shortest story ever submitted! I really enjoyed reading the responses of others. They were so original. No two had the same slant. A great prompt.

Short and sweet, Judy, your tag along seems to be crying out for someone to add their own tag.

You cannot pluck moonlight to bring in your pocket, yet unasked and unbidden, it may follow you home, lighting up stones and leaves like the crumbs in a fairy tale.
