If I Were Water and You Were Air: Love and Unlove Poems

This is the title of a new book of poems that I am working on formatting and doing the covers for.  If anyone is interested in giving me their opinion about the poems, their order and which I should perhaps not include, I would love the advice and could easily send you the ms. as  an attachment.  Any takers????

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

I have two projects hanging fire. The book contest and I’ve been asked to paint a crane which is a long story but my town hangs steel cranes (birds) that have been painted by local artists on the street posts for crane festival. I’m not sure I’m going to do it, but… Then I would be happy to read your book. It would in May, though…

Judy — for what it’s worth, I’d be happy to take a look at what you’re working on. I have no training, but I always enjoy reading your poems and would be happy to add a couple of pennies!

I’d love to send them to you, Janet..I keep adjusting the order and I’m not sure all of them belong so I’d appreciate your views. This version has instructions to my formatter on it written in red.. and some changes in red..I’d appreciate knowing your reactions.

My machine is acting out these days, getting old I guess, like me! Anyway, I have found it helpful and interesting to get feedback from others while pondering sequence, etc. That’s one of the things I so enjoyed about those early days of meeting to read to each other. We get together still when we can, but not very often. Beth will be coming up in early Feb. to visit family and we hope to get together for a little session. I’m still adding to my “Adventure Stories” and Donna was recently included in a beautiful anthology of art and poetry published in Montana – her home state which made it even more satisfying. Simple pleasures. So yes, I would like to review your poems. Events have seemed so unpredictable lately, that poems are the only way to describe it. Wish you best intensions for the new year, Judy. How I wish we lived closer, Laurie..I treasure those years of double friendship…both at shows and at home. Golden years. Plus times in La Ribera. Bob would be 92 if he had lived. Seems impossible. Did I tell you they published the story “Bob’s Rope” in our loval paper?

“Bob’s Rope” – You probably remember that we have that rope. I don’t think that even Bob realized what a pivotal link it would become. Or maybe he did? Thank you for the reminder Judy. Laurie

Judy could I have a look at some of your future book via email: “If I Were Water and You Were Air: Love and Unlove Poems”~? I am pretty much chair-bound and you know that I love your poetry. I will be happy not to be too much a devil’s advocate, but then I also know that you are not writing another Codex Gigas~! Being of the same age that Bob would have been may bring a similar slant on it. My first question may be: is that “Love and Unlove or Unloved” ~? See I am already asking questions. Big difference,,,, Ha~!

        Thanks Judy,

I started writing a note to thank you and even that is not much working, it went into never never land. Last night I watched “The Sting” on Netflix and enjoyed it a lot, it had been years since I last saw it, so it was as though I had never seen it before. So well done, it had such great acting and so complex, I was able to enjoy it all over again after all those years. Also the “Scott Joplin-like” music made me want to go listen to him, so today I will go pull some of my Scott Joplin CD’s and listen to them.

Good music does calm me down, even that kind. I need something to get me out of my doldrums. Your writing may also help get me in a better mood than what I am in. I can’t even put together a positive rhyme lately. So I look forward to a sneak peek at your writing.

This time of the year is just not a happy time for me. Sad Memories, dull weather, and when you turn on the TV it is either War, Killing, or election stuff. We are now getting Fall, here though, something you almost miss down there.

Have a great day but “slow down” or you will wear out too soon too~!

I’ve been listening to Barbra Streisand’s autobiography. 48 hours long! At any rate, I love it because it brings to mind all my past favorite actors and singers..So many I’d forgotten. She gives minute details of every movie and show she has performed in but I find it interesting. She reads it herself. This book is going to last me all month or more!!
