This is the kissing alley in Guanajuato.. These two balconies were so close that lovers could lean across for a rendezvous. Legend says that a father killed his own daughter when he discovered she’d been meeting a young man below her in the social order from the balcony where you see the girl in this photo.

I must say that it was almost impossible for me to find photos with balconies. It seems they are not as common in the U.S. and Mexico as they are in Europe. That said, with the exception of the first photo which depicts the most famous balconies in Guanauato, I must admit these are probably all small second floor patios rather than balconies. Best I could do. I tried!! As for the Kissing Alley photo, Forgottenman found THIS link to a poem I wrote about it years ago and on that blog is also a link to the true story of the balcony and alley.

I like them, Judy 😀. For me, any open space where one can sit/stand outside a door constitutes a balcony, as long as it is not on the ground floor! I specially like that sunny courtyard. Thanks for sharing them with Lens-Artists challenge.

These are great balconies, Judy. I am used to the last one which is a hut on the beach. There are many like that in the Philippines.
