In a way, plants have built the world as we know it by helping to break apart the stone and restoring life. Here are some examples from my property. Click on photos to enlarge and to read the stories of these resilient little plants.

This kalanchoe was not content to stay at home. It just keeps exploring.
I tell people not to pull this resilient little plant because I admire its pluck, but when they remove it anyway, it just grows back!
This little cactus insists on spreading its roots in my roof tiles.
