Abandoned sneakers crown a pile of drying palm fronds, as though they’ve been parted from their legs much as the palm fronds have been severed from their trees.
This is the abandoned plot I adopted 5 years ago.

    Oh my gosh Judy, what a wonderful and varied response to this challenge. What struck me were the shoes, apple and books on the toilet. Thank you for taking responsibility for caring for the gravesite. Last, your decaying structures just feel abandoned.

      Everyone needs a little reading material while enthroned, but looks like someone forgot to put theirs way. I was puzzled by the fish as well. It looked fresh. Why had no one recruited it for lunch? Bird or person?
