Half Hour to Go Until the Easter Egg Hunt!!!! (Easter #1)

In one half hour ten children and parents will descend on my yard for an Easter Egg hunt. Yoli and Marie Jose came to help me hide the eggs–110 in all. The dogs are at the neighbors, the Easter Egg hunters’ pretty bags with one egg the color and pattern of the ones they have to find, two rubber duckies and a plastic bag of gummy worms await their selection and then the hunt is on!!!

I filled 144 eggs a few days ago, then painted to make each group distinctive.
Filled with candy and games.
A bag for each child.
One egg, two rubber duckies and a bag of gummy worms in each sack.
Different pattern and color of eggs hidden for each child.
Their egg in front of their bag to show them what color and design to look for.
Different color or pattern of eggs hidden for each child.
So all come out even
Same number of eggs with same things insideper child.

    I used to love doing Easter Egg hunts. My daughter would run around like a mad-woman and my son would casually look for ones he liked! Luckily, Lindsay was always generous and shared her bounty with her little brother who usually didn’t get much. Even at the church egg hunt. One year my daughter was having a blast and my son was ready to disown me, saying he was way to old for egg hunts! I was reading something the other day and there was this “idea” about having kids go get all the eggs but instead of the adults putting things in the eggs, they would “shop” using the eggs as currency to buy things off of a table set up by a parent. I don’t like this idea for two reasons, one, I think it takes away some of the fun of seeing what you get and two, it isn’t about “buying” what you want, its about accepting what you are given. But thats just me.

      Oops.. I didn’t know this had posted.. just added some to it. They had soooo much fun. After they found their eggs. (The same little girl who ended up with fewer eggs than the others last year, ended up with only 4 even though I hid ten for each child. I ended up having to hide 6 more for her..I don’t know why she has such bad luck with Easter. At any rate, I’m about to start putting together another post showing the hunt! These kids are soooo sweet.

      I am chortling..no argument from me on that one! You should have seen me organizing the “sets.” I borrowed egg cartons from a local charity that donates eggs to needy families so I could make a grouping for each child.
