I decided to research whether people actually drank the mezcal that is bottled with scorpions (and in my case a snake as well) and I just read this:
The scorpions are added live, and they release the venom into the mezcal as they die. It is used medically to relieve a cough or used topically for muscle pain.

Maybe I would keep it on an open shelf as a conservation piece for visitors – not that I get many visitors, but . . . who knows . . . .

I am glad to hear that because I don’t think I could drink anything from a bottle full of scorpions and snakes. Even Garry at his most alcoholic wouldn’t have touched anything with a snake in it. That bottle contains something to frighten EVERYONE.
