Help Solve a Mystery?

I had 6,343 views so far today-  A good portion of them are from Germany. Can anyone explain to me why? If you are in Germany reading this blog, can you tell me what prompted your reading it?

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Were most of the views to your Home page/Archives or for any specific post or spread evenly across multiple posts. Did you have a commensurate number of likes and comments?

How about page views vs visit?

The average they recorded was that each person viewed 3.3 blogs. The biggest referrer by far was Facebook and no one blog amassed a huge number of views. I don’t think the actual views would even add up to that number. Too lazy to count!

When my site got hijacked last summer and I was getting thousands of views daily (compared with around 300 normally), most of the excess views were to my home page/archives and were from the referrer Facebook (which was unusual). And the largest number of views came from places where I usually didn’t get that many (like Cyprus…but they moved around). I finally had to create a new blog with a different URL (this one) and then use the WordPress export and import functions to transfer all of my posts and photos from my old blog (This, That, and the Other) to this blog. Once that was done, I shut down my old blog. It was a real hassle, but it worked.

Maybe this was just a one-time anomaly and today your views will be back to your normal rsnge and you’ll be fine. But if it continues….

By the way, when I was going through this crap last summer, the WordPress happiness engineers were of no help whatsoever.

        Anyway, best of luck, Judy.

Thanks so much for your explanation of your process in moving your blog. I don’t know if I’d ever get it done as I have over 12,000 blogs! What was the purpose of someone flooding your blog with all of those views?

Whoever they were, they were reposting my blog posts, including likes and comments on about half a dozen different bogus “news” sites. I don’t know why they did it or if they made any money, since most of the excess views I got originated from those websites. I had almost as many posts and tons of photos that I was able to import to my new blog.

Are you still getting tons of views today?

I’ve had this happen too. Like maybe 4 times since May? Usually, it’s reblogs. Something caught someone’s eye and they reblogged it and then a few more people. I’ve actually had it happen in earlier years, but it’s a bigger hit these days. A couple of times — and I think this is a WordPress error — they’ve given me credit for EVERY PERSON who follows me. I’m sure that’s some kind of software glitch, but the others? Try to see where — what browser — launched all these hits. Watch out for Yandex.com. It’s Russian and I think it’s fishy.

Those views are from AI. I also experienced the same issue with my blogs, throughout June. As per Google Analytics, the original views were only 16,000 for the June month. But, my posts got more than 25,000 views. The difference is by Artificial Intelligence.

Monday it was down to 1.051 which was not an unusual number for me, especially with The Numbers Game posting, but that 6,000 + was bizarre. No one from Germany answered my query about how they found my site. One of life’s mysteries.
