Possessed Cell Phone!!!!

As you can see, my iPhone was far above my head and not in easy reach from my hand or any part of my body.

Okay… it has happened. Technology has taken over the world, at least at my house.  Two nights in a row, I have been awakened by my cell phone pinging and reached for it––over my head and behind me on the top of my table/headboard–– to find it has called a friend.  In each case, I was given an option to press 2 to disconnect and 3 to talk. I pressed 2, but a few minutest later, at 1:30 in the morning, the friend called me thinking I had an emergency as the phone woke them up twice and when they answered no one answered but they saw I had been the one to call. Then another friend was called at 5 a.m. the next day.

I did not have earbuds in…which some have said is how this can happen, although I don’t know how.  Neither of the friends my phone called were emergency contacts, although I had called them both within the past 24 hours.

The phone was far out of my reach and does not have sound activation other than for Siri.  What are your thoughts on the matter?

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Ha. I turned off everything I could and now when I pause too long with anything I’m doing, I have to touch the side button to turn the phone “on” again . The light doesn’t go out. It just freezes. In trying to make them do everything they end up getting a phone that won’t do anything.

Me, too, Lou. It was as expensive as my computer because I had it specially made in the factory with 1 Terabyte memory…I have had more trouble with it than any phone I’ve ever had. And now I’m having headaches with my Outlook mail as well. They just changed it again. and moved everything around. It took me hours searching the internet to try to figure out where to go to set it so I could see all of my email with the most recent emails showing up first. Finally found a person who after about 15 minutes of back and forthing could show me how to do so. It shouldn’t be that hard!!! Why change everything constantly?

Could a pet have touched it? I was having trouble with my TV turning itself on for no reason. I thought maybe the remote being near the edge of the coffee table let the dog accidentally hit the power button. But that turned out not to be the case. It’s still a mystery! Thank goodness it quit doing it.

One day right after I got my Smart TV, I walked into the room and it turned itself on and said, “I’m sorry, but I don’t recognize you!” I couldn’t believe it..I told it no wonder because we’d never been introduced!!!

This happened to me and I assumed it was a butt-dial. It wasn’t in the night but all the same it made the call and I know I didn’t touch my phone at all! The real test is to say some completely random thing about some completely random product, maybe one you saw years ago as an advertisement or something, and all of a sudden you will start getting ads about it! Scary stuff.

Precisely my position. I have turned everything off on my phone to the point where any time I want to change functions… such as go from email to photos, I have to punch the side button first… and my audible books still keep changing chapters if I move the phone even a small bit. Drives me crazy.

Maybe you picked up a mischievous ghost. I haven’t had any odd phone adventures, but plenty more things happen around here I blame my house ghost on. … and on another matter, I see in comments about your email changing. So far mine is okay, but Word Press has moved my blog tabs for Save and Preview to the bottom instead of on the right side. Either that or I pushed something I shouldn’t have. I don’t know how to get it back to normal, either. 🙂
