Celebration for The Virgin of Guadalupe has begun and will go on all night and all day tomorrow. It started with a party next door…We also passed processions all the way back from Bacalar to Buenavista.
Here is a video of two dancers at the celebration next door;
This is Lake Bacalar..noted for its deepwater cenotes and these rocks which are created from minerals that bubble up from below. It is also famous for its colors—7 different colors of water. It is very shallow in the area where we swam today..There were swings in the water and also hammocks. Only a few places where the water wasn’t shallow enough to just walk around in..Not many fish.. lots of floating plants, moss and flowers in the water. Alligators in some places but not where we were.. or I wouldn’t have been swimming.
Enjoyed the pics, Judy. Are those floating seaweed discs in the water? I like your pics of the water and waterlilies. Neat video of the dancers also.

Sounds like a fascinating ecosystem.

It is. Unfortunately, although they are trying to protect it, it seems to be endangered, however.
