“Distance” for Stream of Consciousness Saturday

In the wide prairies of South Dakota, the only narrow to be found is the narrowing of the road in the distance.  It is a bit like perpetually driving into an invisible tunnel.

The Stream of Consciousness prompt is distance.

I’ve driven and ridden both North and South Dakota and it’s just like your photos of the highway, unless you drive through the badlands or the western part of the states. Good memories of vacations there.

Were you going to Sturgis? I used to watch strings of thousands of motorcycles going up Hwy 16 (Now perhaps Interstate 90) enroute to there in the summer for the annual rally. Do you remember going through Murdo..east of the 1880’s town and Wall Drug? Also home of the Pioneer Auto Museum.

I was first in SD as a teenager, when on a family vacation. We drove through the Badlands, saw the Corn Palance and Mount Rushmore. We also saw The Passion Play in an outside theater in Spearfish. Went back as an adult with then husband for Sturgis, but drove through Badlands again, stopped at Wall Drug and Mount Rushmore, drove Needles Hwy. We took a final trip on motorcycle through part of SD and into ND, stopped at Teddy Roosevelt Nat’l Park and saw their Badlands.
