When the Title is Longer Than the Poem

COVIRUS FIGURES, MASSIVE FIRES, HURRICANES, TORNADOS, FLOODS, GUTTING OF THE U.S. MAIL, RIOTING IN THE STREETS, RACIAL INJUSTICE, POLICE BRUTALITY, HEALTH DEFUNDING, JOB LOSS, INCARCERATION OF CHILDREN, MASSIVE FRAUD, PARDONING OF CRIMINALS, GLOBAL WARMING, WITHDRAWAL FROM THE WORLD COMMUNITY, HYPOCRISY, SOCIAL DISTANCING, PANDEMONIUM!!!

There might have been a different outcome if a clown had not been ruling—
If the ones making decisions had listened to their schooling.
If so many others had not chosen to go rogue.
If the heresy of empathy had not been out of vogue.

If so many teeming masses had not chosen to go blind,
perhaps we would not be in such a tumultuous bind.
How to find a way out of our massive sinking boat?
No matter what new walls he builds, get out there and vote!!!!

Prompt words for today are clown, heresy, empathy, different and outcome.

Panic!!!

The prompt word today is CRISIS.

Panic!!!

When I was younger and a rover,
the things I should have panicked over
never seemed to stick to me.
I guess that’s part of being free.

But now with bigger guns and Isis,
we all feel continual crisis.
Though it’s true, I must confess,
I overlook the world’s grand mess

and concentrate on creaking knees
and where I left my ring of  keys.
As I get older, I would guess,
I’ll feel more panic over less.

Crisis Reasoning

IMG_0834

I’ve often thought about how I might react in a crisis and generally I have feared that I would become scattered and rattled and not be of much use.  When I think back on past crises, however, it seems that I act the opposite of how I project I would act in future crises.  What I have done in the past is to calm down and think very quickly of possible responses to the situation, settle on one and act.  The fact that I am still alive is testimony to my actually being able to act very calmly in a crisis.  I think I’ve described all of the situations in past posts, so rather than repeat them here, I’m going to try to find links.

Kidnapping in Africa: Naive in Africa
Shooting incident in Africa:
Trapped Outside in a Mountain Blizzard in Wyoming:

Well, due to my terrible tagging, I could only find a link to one of the stories.  I’ll keep searching, but in the meantime if anyone else can find a link to these other stories, please HELP.  I’m trying to remain calm in spite of my frustration over this crisis!!!

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “In a Crisis.” Honestly evaluate the way you respond to crisis situations. Are you happy with the way you react?
