Kalanchoe Blooms for FOTD Dec 3, 2023

The photos of this kalanchoe plant last week depicted wilting flowers and buds. Here are those buds in their full bloom as well as more buds! The third photo is of leaves. As you can see, it has been raining off and on all day. By the time I went out to photograph the leaves, there had been a good deal of rain and it is still raining. About time. Our rainy season seems to be coming on 6 months late this year. I’m guessing that they are the “Beach Bells” variety.

FOTD: Kalanchoe, May 10, 2023

This is the actual size of the kalanchoe flowers that I showed yesterday.  They look very different, right? The two flowers to the right are different.I would guess zinnias? They are new, too. Morrie decided to stick is ear in the photo so you could more easily determine the size of the flowers. Thanks, Morrie, for helping me to clarify.

I just planted these flowers.  believe they are  kalanchoes,  but if so they are the most unusually colored ones I’ve ever seen.

I can’t decide which I like best so I’m including them all. Why not?

Again, I went to buy soil and ended up with an entire trunk full of plants. It started with these lovely kalanchoes. Two plants–you can see a bit of the yellow one in one of the photos. There is such a variety of colors even from plant to plant. One yellow is not exactly the same as the other. I love this unbrash creamy color of yellow as opposed to lemon yellow plus the variation of the orange which unfolds from its blush peach fist to the more vivid orange flower.

I went out to snap a few new photos of flowers and ended up trimming all of the plants in the entire back porch plus the lower level around the studio and the side of the terrace. Two hours later, I came up to post this!  You can hardly pass for the heaps of weeds and dry leaves and branches in the pathways and corridors. A surprise for Pasiano on Monday. I trim, he clears away and bags up.

These look a bit like wallpaper or an image from an oilcloth tablecloth, but the photo was taken in my front yard.

Our Lady of the Roses, FOTD Dec 12, 2022

Today is the saints day for the Virgin of Guadalupe and skyrockets and church bells have been going off since 6 A.M.  It seems fitting that I show the Virgin and her floral offerings as well as a display of fresh kalanchoe blossoms in honor of Our Lady of the Roses. They are as close to roses as I can get in my garden.

Floral Alphabet Challenge, The Letter “K,” Sept 24, 2022

Love this plant, but Zoe uprooted all of them in my planters, along with all the moss roses she could reach. I could save a fortune on dog food and just let this girl graze on my plants and lawn grubs!  Of course I’d have no garden left to speak of.
