Day and Night, For the Sunday Whirl Wordle 673, Sept 29, 2024

Day and Night

The stream of life brings good and bad—
both peace and torment to be had.
Dreaming adventure’s a sure bet.
If you don’t jump in, you won’t get wet.

Those secret knives that rip the seams
of the fabric of your dreams—
That fiery breath that sears your lungs
as you tell lies that fork your tongue?

Tucked here safe within your bed,
you have no cause for fears or dread.
Truth seen in glimpses, through lash-closed eyes
may be wisdom in disguise.

For the Sunday Whirl Wordle 673. the words are: wet jump secret dream bed breath secrets lashes fire plague glimpses

Night and Day, For Wordle 629

Night and Day

What sleights of hand our bored gods play,
meandering at end of day,
tricking out our daylight world
with creeping shadows  they’ve unfurled,
plunging us in darkness that
sends in the dog but draws the cat
out to wander hill and hollow
where no human dares to follow.
The timorous mouse must then give pause
lest it fall victim to its claws.

Beam of moon that lights the way
poor substitute for light of day.
The ship of night must trim its sail
lest it lists within the gale
that joins the dark to forge the din
that further serves to box us in.
Odd nature, thus, a puzzle makes.
With one hand gives, the other takes.
Mere mortal quakes within his bed,
prays for calm daylight in its stead.

plunge meandering shadow odd trim box gods tricks plunge beam lists hollow are the words for the Sunday Whirl Wordle 629

Night and Day

Night and Day

I memorize your face, your hair,
your breath white light upon cold air.
Hours pass like minutes while
I chart the borders of your smile.

A wisp of cloud, sliver of moon
slip behind the highest dune.
The stars have plans that drive the night
to plots that I will later write.

Fictions Imagined by me,
no match for their reality.
Then, sun rays sent to ban the night
obscure the moon and stars from sight.

A chiming bell is morning’s crime
dispelling pleasures most sublime,
but if I linger long, I might
survive the day to earn the night.

Prompts are: sliver breath sent plans hours minutes chime drive write light crime match for the Sunday Whirl Wordle 548

Patterns of Light

Patterns of Light

Time devours candles as twilight dines on day.
There is no way to change this, for it is nature’s way.
Vivid colors fade to night, alleviating need
to be about day’s business and to bring the rest we need.
But this change of light to dark another change is spawning.
Black turns to grey and grey to blue in a new day’s dawning.

Word prompts today are grey turns to blue, alleviate, vivid,, devour,  business and candles.

Lucid Moon

Lucid Moon

With half a life lived in the dark,
an owl’s hoot, an answering bark,
the moon across the water scattered,
ragged clouds, wispy and battered––

I float in night and solitude,
the night determining my mood.
I lie in darkness and I brood,
a nightly lucid interlude.

When sunlight comes in fits and starts,
The day brings out my other parts.
They rise in me from dawn to noon,
dispelling powers of the moon.

Thus balanced between dark and light,
each half consumes its daily bite.
I welcome each within its time
Life varied, balanced and sublime.

Matt’s prompt today was “Lucidity.”  The common meaning of “Lucid” is  “clearly expressed” or “easy to understand,” but another meaning is “bright or luminous.”  Why don’t you join in? Here is his link: https://normalhappenings.com/2018/11/21/lucidity-daily-inkling/

Respite

Version 2

Respite

Although it is the day lit world that shouts at me, it seems
that when darkness closes, you echo in my dreams.

The prompt word today was “echo.”
