On the front desk in my tax accountant’s office today, I saw something that plummeted me back to my mother’s borders between the house and the sidewalk that ran from our front to back yard: this bouquet which included several sweet William flowers–also known as carnation pinks.
My mother planted sweet Williams too.

I have beautiful memories of my mother growing Sweet Williams too. 😊

And I’ve never seen them any place else since. That’s why it was such a surprise to see them in that office yesterday. Hers were variegated, though, not just one color.

I’ve never seen them this color. My mother’s were pink or this color ringed with white.

We also had the lighter colored pinks, not as a border, but interspersed between other flowers. This really does bring back memories!
