Manifesto for the Midterms
Mere pontificating will not win my trust.
Words with no fair justice fade away to dust.
If greed and ambition are part of what you teach,
move on to another. I’m far beyond your reach.
But if you seek a balance and fairness for posterity,
rightness for the earth and a sharing of prosperity.
If you do not seek to govern by appealing to false fear,
then climb up on your bandbox. I’ll give your words an ear.

One of my students wrote, “We have to save these words for posterior.” I should start collecting students’ pearls of wisdom!

Ha.. My sister saved her students’ malapropisms…hilarious. It has been so long since I taught that I don’t remember those of any of my students.

They pop out of my memory, if triggered by something.
