Ancient Monkey

I love this beautiful painting of a monkey I saw on a remnant of a mural on a wall in Pompeii. I’d love to have a painting of it hanging on my wall!

For Cee’s CMMC Prompt: “N” in the middle of the word.

Wow I like that too, it is funny how brilliant the colors are after being buried for so long. We would see apes in the Atlas Mountains that looked like this but they were not blue, however I have seen a blue ape farther south, sometimes referred to as the “Blue Ape”; Mandrillus Sphinx. Their rear ends are more colorful than their faces though…Ha~!

Have you read some of the books and poetry by Phyllis Gotlieb, Most of her poems, I feel only she could enjoy or a person as intelligent as she was, as for me, most left me in the dark. She also wrote science fiction and in one series she wrote about Blue Apes in “Sundays Child”, they came to earth from outer space and formed a community.

one thing she wrote that I liked: DON’T CRY FOR ME BY: Phyllis Gotlieb

Don’t cry for me for I am not dead’ for I’m still here I’m by your side. My body’s gone but my sole’s is here, please don’t shed another tear.

I’m still here, I’m all around, only my body is in the ground. I am the snowflake that kisses your nose. I am the frost that nips at your toes.

I am the sun bringing you light. I am the star shining so light. I am the rain refreshing the earth. I am the laughter, I am the mirth.

I am the bird up in the sky. I am the cloud that’s drifting by I am the thoughts inside your head. I am still there, I can’t be dead~!

Oh you know how I feel about embellishment (damn Photoshop~!) But one thing for sure, that Mandrillus Sphinx does not need it coming or going~! Love the post as always~! I did not see it on my last visit. The one painted wall that impressed me the most was an upstairs room, painted in an ocre collar and it had a cross on it as well~! That was so very long ago~!

They must have placed a sheet of glass over the image to protect it as there was a reflection of a long”window” of light on the right side of the image. My only alteration was to remove it. The color is pretty much the same.
