Two by Two
I love the juxtaposition of the volcano and small hill in front, the clouds echoed by the vegetation, the dormant small volcano with it’s habitation contrasted to the live and active volcano behind. Even the colors are in contrast..
The rabbit god presides over tequila and his consort here represents the dual prototypes of the feminine. These two represent much of the mythology of Mexico.

A rabbit god. Presiding over tequila. I’m sure there’s some kind of back story that I would love to know. Or maybe it explains something about the national character of Mexico … but what?

If I can find it, I’ll send you the article I wrote on the Rabbit myth in Mexico. It is a fun story..some of the legends parallel the Uncle Remus stories in America…So interesting. I think I have it on an old hard drive.
