About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Most definitely guilty. There was one day Chris left a cooked chicken breast out on the counter to cool. She came back later to put it into the fridge and she couldn’t find it. We figured our Charlie boy (cat) had it for dinner. What probably happened is that he knocked it on the floor and the pugs got the majority of the chicken. There was no chicken on the floor or anywhere in sight. 😀

Yes, I caught Diego running out the door with an entire cooked chicken I’d put on the kitchen counter. A week before, he’d eaten six raw porkchops right out of the pan on the stove! They are fast!!!

Ah yes. But how did the attractive nuisance get from the third shelf to the floor? Well, yes, perhaps I left it on the table after cleaning up the accused’s pee and poop. Pee and poop? Bad doggie, but,on the other hand, when I went into his room the morning of the alleged p & p, the door to the outside was shut. So access to more acceptable lavatory accommodations was cut off. On the other hand, someone could have climbed over the wall and over the 5′ high locked gate and opened the door for him. On the other hand….not likely. I must admit I exploited the situation as a photographic opportunity, then asked a leading question for my own selfish purposes–i.e. a new blog entry!!!

He was in that room because he’d been altered and was supposed to stay quiet and away from the other dogs. He’d peed and pooped on the floor and I’d cleaned it up and put the paper towels up on the shelf. After that, I discovered he could fit through the bars at the door, so I just left the sliders open so he could come in and out at will. I kept the other dogs in the back and he had the front. But, one day men were here changing the locks and the slider was inadvertently left closed for the night, so when I got up in the morning, I had another mess to clean up…not his fault. Perhaps I left the towels on the table or perhaps they fell down, but next time I came into the room, there were shreds of paper towel everywhere. The same had happened with a roll of toilet paper earlier–and the new toy I bought him, and my best Croc shoe!!! I knew it was a bad idea to give him those white shoes. Now he sees any similar shoe as a toy. He sleeps in the cage with the door open, but is no longer afraid of it, so if he needs to be confined, he can be with no stress. The vet says he is at least 2 years old, but he still feels like a puppy! So much energy, even the day after his neutering.

I feel a bit guilty… do you have regrets ? has he complicated your life in a neg. way ? Please know…. my offer still stands. I will take him off your hands if you change your mind about him… I see he is as cute as ever… I assume he and Diego are still buds.
