What is This Doing Here?

Cee gave me the perfect opportunity to use this picture taken in Sheridan, Wyoming earlier this year. Couldn’t quite figure out what this fire hydrant was doing out in the middle of this field. So, Cee, I see your fire hydrant, and raise you . . .
one lonely pineapple shell complete with spoon and straw, drained of its further purpose for being, nestled up against a wall along the carretera–the main road that runs along the lake, going past all the fish restaurants and on to my house and places beyond. Then, these oddly located items cry out to be joined by one more I’ve shown before:
These vampish stilettos were outside the door of a local girl’s orphanage. It turns out they belonged to a former resident, come back to visit. It is as though she shed her present personae when she slipped back into her old life for a short while. Or perhaps they were just as uncomfortable as they look.

That fire plug looks like a subdivision that went south. Somebody got ahead of the permit.

You are probably right, but it made for a good photo, anyway.

We’ve never seen that plug in Sheridan, but maybe it’s somewhere they’re going to be building? I think I’d dump those shoes, too. Makes me feet hurt just to see them.

It is out by where the great blue herons nest. You turn off the road towards whatever that building is out there but it is closer to the main road than that building. Do you live in Sheridan?

No, but we go there every summer or up on the Big Horns from there.

One of the most beautiful places on earth. I have land there but will never build on it. My sister and a number of college friends live there so I visit every year or so.

We love it there. Do you stay on the land? Is your land in the mountains or in town? We and my brother and his family have a cabin in the mountains.

I stay with my sister or my friend. In town in the Scott addition. My friend lives across from the Rodeo grounds!

I’d love to know where the heron’s nest is for next year!

I’ll get the directions from my sister. Have you seen the pictures I posted in May of this year? Just search for Great Blue Heron. There are about a dozen nests….and they had chicks when I was last there. If you can’t find it, I’ll send you a link. Getting ready for guests or I’d find it and send it now. Let me know if you find it.

Maybe the local canines installed the hydrant so they’d have something they could relate to?

It is their country getaway.

Love the story of the shoes. The fire hydrant looks a bit like an alien stuck out in the paddock!

I don’t know why it captured my whimsy. I think just imagining some girl finishing her drink while her boyfriend changed a flat tire or while waiting for the valet parking attendant.
