Two men with sledgehammers pound concrete
I wish that they could find a beat.
One taps and taps with peckish meter
while the other is a beater!
Tap tap tap in jerky hops
While bam bam bam just never stops.
I know I am unreasonable,
My complaints are treasonable.
Construction can’t be done in mime,
I only wish they’d pound in time!

Does Morrie supervise the work?

He does indeed, Marilyn. The dogs love these guys…They are the only people they haven’t barked at in years. They stand interestingly nearby surveying the work…Guess you saw Diego’s mark of inspection on the ladder. I asked the guys if they want me to put the dogs in front and they said no, they didn’t bother them! Only time we put them “up” is when they leave the front gate open to carry in stone, gravel or dirt.

Humorous with a pronouncement of underlying frustration. Excellent poetic expression of feelings. I think I can hear them!

Be thankful, they didn’t bring a jack hammer

Ha. I’ve created a monster! Bitten by the rhyming bug.

I can so relate – we had jackhammers every day for months when a new subway station was being built a block from our New York apartment.

A great idea received too late. I’ll post your idea when I get in from my swim. Most gorgeous sunset in years tonight. Did you see it?

Thanks, Nomad. The pounding has stopped and the bricklaying is proceeding. It is a real art in Mexico and I love watching. They have just made a beautiful arch for a window…I can see it from my desk. Another man is cleaning my aljibe and others fixing a broken water line to my studio. Pasiano is watering plants, Yolanda and Oscar just left. I teach Oscar English while Yolanda cleans my house. Does this sound like a bee hive? It is today. Never fear, I have been working, too. No lazy hands here.

Now that’s an active morning. I’m just returning from a writers conference and It is official, I will never again attend one without significant information being provided for independent authors. I have learned more from podcasts than any conference.
Now it is on to NaNoWriMo!!! 🙂

San Miguel runs an incredible writers conference in March. If you Google it, you will see the incredible presenters and they have workshops as well. The Napa Writers Conference also used to be very good and I imagine it still is.
