Xmas in October: Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge, 10/28/15

Xmas in October (Umbrella Plant and Bougainvillea)

IMG_7203 IMG_7202The combination of the white and green star-shaped blooms on the umbrella plant combined with the red bougainvillea create a Xmas scene even before Halloween–which is echoed by the Xmas decorations already being displayed next to the Halloween costumes in Walmart in Ajijic.  Holiday madness has made it even to Mexico.  Sigh.

So far, Christmas hasn’t edged in around here. Everyone is a bit preoccupied with autumn, Halloween, and preparing for winter. All the leaves are falling in a big rush and getting them cleaned up before the snow falls is a big task. Wood being cut and stocked, too. This is the time of year when we feel that first icy finger in the night … and begin to worry. I’m counting on El Nino. Around Thanksgiving, Christmas will sudden pop up, full grown.

Do you do all of your yard work yourself? I remember those years of working all day long trying to fight nature for possession of my two acres. Nature nearly always won!
