Birds of a feather

I think this response to the prompt is astounding, as has been every post of Animar that I have read. Just had to reblog this.
Textures are everywhere: The rough edges of a stone wall. The smooth innocence of a baby’s cheek. The sense of touch brings back memories for us. What texture is particularly evocative to you?
I can’t remember where I heard it or when but I’m guessing it was from my friend Clyde who knew about all things Dinosaur Related.
Clyde was seriously into Dinosaurs- we were about ten years old at the time- and I was into Archeology and all things Mummy Related so we always had a lot to talk about.
Anyway one day we were slamming the tether ball around the pole and trying to hit each other with it ( I think it was called roping when you grabbed the rope and whipped it around ) and Clyde informed me that the way you could tell the difference between a rock and a bone was that if you put a…

Touched
Soft and cool, smooth and neat.
One sensation that can’t be beat,
stretched beneath my legs and feet?
A newly ironed bottom sheet.

The Lapdog
Dogs that stand outside and seek admittance to within
overlook the worth of what they’ve seen and where they’ve been.
Those of us sealed fast inside yearn to see the world
that we have been deprived of as we lie securely curled
in the safety of our houses, away from chasing cars
and other fun activities kept from us by bars.
We would feel such ecstasy racing after squirrels,
other dogs and cats and lizards, skunks and boys and girls.
We seek to flee the rules that those street dogs seem to flout.
We would have such wild adventures if we only could get out!!

The Street Dog
Lucky little dogs with collars sit there looking out
as though they do not know what life for street dogs is about.
We’d love to have their pampering and their daily feeding.
What they seek escape from is exactly what we’re needing!

The Prompt: Tell us about a time you were on the outside looking in. https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/the-outsiders/
Think Pink

These huge and incredible blooms were almost obscured by the leaves of a monstrous tree on the Lake Chapala Society grounds. I had to get under them to photograph them as they hang straight down. I have no idea what the name of the tree is and in the past have just caught them after the flowers all dry up and turn brown. Thanks, Jessica, for pointing them out!

Enchiladas Suiza

Just as good as they look! Yesterday’s “comida” in the Ajijic Plaza, after picking up my nephew and his partner from the plane in Guadalajara. This (below) is what they had, although it isn’t green and orange:

This is a “molcajete mixto”––marinated beef, chicken, shrimp, green peppers, mushrooms, onions and cheese! They shared it and had enough left over for another meal.

My worker ants have been working assiduously for over a month to build the doggie domain. They say they’ll be finished by Thanksgiving, so I’ll have something extra to be thankful for this year. I have been constantly amazed by their skill, energy and drive. It’s been like watching a ballet!!!

Unwarranted Evaluation
I feel it with my writing and I feel it with my art.
Although you say the opposite, I’m really not that smart.
When people rave I feel like in a way I don’t deserve it.
In case I might get better, perhaps they should reserve it.
The only time I feel that I deserve praise, if they’d do it,
is when somebody sees my work and chooses to eschew it!!!
