Excuses, excuses
Posts that wander here and yon
and just go on and on and on
telling why they haven’t “writ?”
Just grab the theme and write of it!
I’m sure that you have much to say,
I look for it day after day.
But please desist your bitch and moan
lest you wind up here alone!
Daily excuses make us yawn.
If you don’t stop, we’ll all be gone!!!
I must admit that I’ve been that blogger who complains about the Daily Prompt. I’m not talking about the occasional healthy complaint here, but the very few bloggers I’ve found (of course, not you) who seem to have established a blog mainly as a grounds of complaint about why they can’t write!.
The Prompt: Yawn! What bores you? https://dailypost.wordpress.com/prompts/yawn/
I can always write about anything really, even if it is the 2nd or perhaps 3rd time. I discover that when I write the 2nd time it becomes fun and an opportunity to apply a little irony, bordering perhaps on sarcasm, but I always did have a dark humour.

I know. I’m finding the same thing to be true if I just don’t resist the prompts.

Not enough sleep! Which means I can’t string my words together.

That can sometimes be good, Miriam. Just let the words write themselves and see what they have to teach you.

Thank you, that’s very true.

The feeling that I am repeating the same things over and over and cannot break out of the rut when I write.

Just let yourself repeat, Dreamer but keep writing and other stuff will be attached onto the end of the repetitive stuff. You can always delete the repetitions later! It is obviously matter you are still working out so you need to repeat to try to find a new ending!!!

I figure if I don’t like the prompt, I don’t have to write it. It’s not like someone has a gun to my head. I’m hardly ever unable to write, but I am frequently, these days, not willing to spend the time. I’m giving myself permission to do something other than write. Mainly, I’m still processing pictures of Arizona … with a few thousand images to go!

Ah my usual excuses are honest ones: couldn’t be arsed /not in the mood or just tired.

Too funny! Thanks for the giggles with this so-difficult Daily Prompt. You made [YAWN] interesting. So far, only one other has managed to keep my attention, and I think if you’d written 500 words, I’ve have enjoyed them to the end.

Wow, Kathryn, that is praise of the highest order and I do appreciate it. Hope to see you here again and plan to pull up a chair in your kitchen as well! Judy
