Here is the challenge given by okcforgottenman. The three words he gave me are hubris, hat rack and unwieldy. The poem below is given in jpeg form because it is a shape poem and WordPress changes the shape to left justified in the Reader.

Thanks, okcforgottenman, for the three-word prompt. To see okcforgottenman’s blog, go HERE.
The Prompt: Write a piece making use of an article, a noun and an adjective provided by one of your viewers.

Well played! I have to squint a bit to see the shape, but it really works well. Reminds me of one of my favorite lines from our favorite tv series ever, Firefly: “Nice hat.”

Can you give us the backstory for that quote while I go make some guacamole? Creation makes me hungry, not to mention the rigors of converting and editing!!!

“Nice hat.” was uttered by Mal in the pilot episode (which didn’t air until Fox cancelled the series) in the beginning of a reverse ambush. (Yeah, Browncoats everywhere – y’all remember.) The bad guy wearing the nice hat was immediately shot & kilt after Mal said that line.

So does your repeating these words have any sinister purpose? Are you fed up being my techie?

Howdy, I got around that by handwriting it on a piece of paper. Then scanned and converted it to a jpg file then inserting it into my post. Having said that. You can still see the hat shape. Cheers Jamie.

I think Mac has changed the process for doing that so I couldn’t see how to export a pdf as a jpeg so I could get it into the media file.. Oh what we go through for art!!!

I’ve done it on a Mac many times, but suddenly the place to do it isn’t there anymore. Always a new thrill. Can’t be my memory, can it?

I see what you’re doing
A visual delight
Your words are all staggered
But they seem to be right.
Without formal borders
Your message is told
Writing thoughts in italics
Well, that’s rather bold.
And so what you’re doing
At this rapid pace
Pure visual enjoyment
Puts a smile on my face.
And let me just state
In these few closing lines
Your creativity impressive
The structure sublime.
And I get your message
Don’t you worry or fret
The job you are doing
Is really perfect.
And so if you’ll write me
A few thoughts in rhyme
A smile on my face
Will make my day truly sublime.

For GC
You have great facility with meter and rhyme,
Your lines all flow smoothly—clever and sublime.
But you’ve used all the rhymes and I fear I’m repeating.
Sheep following sheep, a repetitive bleating.
I’ve had a looong day, and though it isn’t late,
I slept just three hours from five until eight
and soon I just know that I’ll run out of steam,
and my next line of verse might end up in a dream.
So before I give up and surrender my bod
to the luxuries of sleep in the kingdom of Nod,
I’d like a rain check for writing your verse.
Please consider this rhyme just my chance to rehearse.
But to prompt this assignment, you need to provide
three words to include, and then I’ll decide
how they’ll inspire and tickle my muse
to be way more clever in lines that I choose
tomorrow when my mind is fresh, clear and rested.
Until then, I fear your own rhyme can’t be bested.
