This always lovely, almost always smiling lady of 96 was caught here in a reflective moment as she sat covered by a shawl to ward off cool lake breezes. We were on a pontoon boat on Lake Chapala, listening to the children’s choir and orchestra and sipping wine made from local raspberries. Perhaps the music triggered a memory. Certainly, there is a far away look in these eyes. I love this picture even though it really does not capture her usual bright, positive attitude. I guess the secret of why we are so intrigued by photos is their ability to capture and share with us those fleeting moments otherwise lost.
She looks marvelous for her age. She also looks like a gentle soul. 😀

She is. And she always looks fabulous. Makeup, hair done, nice clothes. And she is a newly wed. She married a younger man. He is 93.

A great photo Judy. You can see in the depth of her thought how she lived so long. As you said to Pat about her 100 year old dad, you’ll reach that age too 🙂 ciao Anton

She really is. Theirs is such a remarkable story. Wonderful to see that romance is still surviviing and doing well even in their 90’s.

That is a wonderful portrait. How come she looks younger than I do? I’m beginning to worry.

This photo is hard to look away from. In a way I can’t explain, it is really deep. I love the colors, too.

I know, revivedwriter. I felt the same way. I took several of her and all were intriguing, but there was something in this one… memory, pain, regret, loss, reflection and acceptance all at once. This may or may not be what she was really thinking about, for I know this woman and she is always alert and cheerful and smart. Still, we all have these periods and art, after all, is a reflection of truth, not necessarily a verbatim replication of “a” truth.

Just a lovely shot, soft, warm. I bet it would look great in B&W (but I don’t know how to edit that!)
