Frail
She cannot change a tire or heft a cotton bale,
help us move the sofa or lift the water pail––
not because she’s lazy or because she is too frail,
but simply because if she did, she might break a nail!!

My nails are always far from perfect and never false..They are a repository for lots of glue and paint, but not of the fake nails variety.. and potting soil to boot.

Judy, the ones pictured seem very perfect … mine are always ragged. The fingers themselves are not perfect either. Arthritis, scars, etc. Cheers Jamie

Nor are mine. I slammed my middle finger on the right hand in a pneumatic door when I was small and it stunted the growth on one side, so the tip is lopsided. So, it completely ruined my potential career as a hand model. Right now my nails look pretty good because I’ve been away from garden and studio for 3 weeks. They will be jagged in short order once I get home. You do realize those aren’t my fingernails, right? I saw a woman and asked if I could photograph her hands..She said she did it herself, I believe, so I guess it is her art form.

Ahhh … looked a little too perfect. In 1960’s while at school we used to go to the local record shop at lunch times. The woman there was always doing her nails. She was painting them with car touch-up paint in elaborate patterns, even then. Touch-up paint came in a wide array of colours. That she used to great alacrity … Cheers Jamie

I have a guitar-playing friend who doesn’t even HAVE fake nails and uses the same excuse. He needs his nails for the flamenco, my dear 🙂
