I used to be plucky, I used to be pert.
I used to pass muster in shorts or a skirt.
But lately my pert parts have just seemed to shift,
and various parts are in need of a lift.
Big tops are my saviors. Caftans are my friends––
obscuring my excesses, shielding my bends.
Back in my plucky days, I was a flirt,
but seduction is over now I’m an ex-pert!
The prompt today was “Expert.”
Hihih, ex-perts, all of us! Very cute.

Nice poem. On a tricky subject.
I am of the opinion, however that oversized clothes for either men, or women, is a mistake. I like to be comfortable and thus stopped wearing blue jeans some ten years ago. Preferring slacks these days, no matter what. Except in shorts type weather. Do baggy clothes hide what we regard as unshapely? Nope! Yet obviously skin tight, is not any better. Regardless, if that is what the individual feels most happy in? Then go with the flow.
I see, classic clothes worn in a demure but exciting manner as the best way to go. Blacks are good. Yet may be overdone too. I thought the illustrative graphic was very good.
Cheers Jamie.

I was once trying on a black top in a dress store with a communal viewing mirror. A woman came up to me and said, “I don’t know who ever told you you looked good in black, but they weren’t doing you any favors!” I was kinda shocked because no one had asked her opinion and in fact, I love black. Needless to say, I bought the blouse and still have it!

That was bold of her? For it seems like a sort of put down. Black, being a classic colour for both sexes. I wear it too, on occasion. It is quite sombre and often used to denote mourning. Personally, and it is only an opinion based on your own photos. You too, do look good in that colour … Black. I am sure many will agree?
As an aging person. I can afford to make mistakes in couture. In the 1990’s when “grunge” was “the look”. I had something of an epiphany and changed my personal grooming to be more fussy, than previous. If my clothes had holes? I only wore them around the hobby farm, while working. Being retired, now. Brings a certain laissez-faire, yet I am still careful with appearance.
Honestly? If you want it, I feel sure you carry it off? No matter what the look, or the time of day.
Anticipating the next poem, or post from you. Cheers Jamie.

I’ve always had visions of you as a young guy in his twenties or thirties. Funny how we don’t necessarily give ourselves away on our blogs. Well, I guess I don’t keep many secrets. No one would mistake me for a twenty year old!!! I wear lots of black simply because the clothes I find that I like are many times that color. In the states, it is often a case that everyone shows up in black. That is less likely to happen in Mexico.

Just trying to stay young at heart … hehe!
Several times I’ve made reference to being retired. No matter … flattery will get you everywhere … hehe. Just got married a week ago. To what I regard as; the most beautiful and fun gal, in the world. She’s younger … 66 to my 67. Life’s good here.

Now, now! You can still “pertly” flutter your eyelashes. I’ve heard in some countries women must veil even their eyes, as a woman’s eyes might be “enticing” to a man. So there you go.
Reading a book to my five-year-old grandson yesterday and it mentioned a girl fluttering her eyelashes at a boy. He was a little young to comprehend, so I gave him a demonstration. He thought it was pretty funny. 🙂

Ha. There was a Goldie Hawn movie where she was dreaming she was at a New Year’s party and confetti was falling on her fluttering eyelashes. Then she waked up and it turns out to be her supposed kids dropping something down on her– (feathers?) while she was asleep. One of my all time favorite movies–Overboard. Have you seen it? That scene stands out in my memory.

It was my movie of choice years ago whenever I needed cheering up. I’d just married a man with 8 kids so I felt an affinity with her. It really is a good light movie. If you like comic romances, give it a shot.

Thanks Judy. Everything lately is in a hurry. Still no internet. I just doubled my phone plan as that is all I’ve been able to use as a modem for weeks.

I wanted to use a different picture but wasn’t at home to scan it, so this one sorta worked.

This one looks great as well. Unique…plus it humorously conveys the message as it goes with the poem.
