The water hyacinths are so thick on the surface of the lake right now that this night heron can actually perch or walk across them.
There don’t seem to be very many blooms right now, but you can make out a few in the photo below:

Their cousins the snowy egret and cattle egret stand out because of their whiteness, but I am often surprised to find night herons in photographs that I didn’t know were there until I begin cropping.
