Trying to keep it simple is harder than you think.
Each time I straighten out my life, fate adds another kink.

      Actually, to be truthful, I think simple bores me. I usually find a way to create little complications or flourishes which is what for me creates the art. I know, I know. There are wonderful artists whose art is beautifully simple. I’m just not one of them. I am into details. Often, too many of them! Drives me crazy at times but it is who I am.

    Actually, I am trying to simplify my life; it has always been complex because I, too, love the excitement of new things. However, with age, I cannot do it anymore. But it is boring.

        I’m so glad you enjoy! What began as a hobby/ art therapy more than a year ago has developed into something more.

        I (usually) start with several of my photos, selecting interesting elements, then edit. Once I’ve created this collage, its easier for me to visualize a finished product.

        I use my iPad Pro and Apple pencil and an app called ProCreate to paint this collage (a lot of tracing required), then run it through several filters until I transform it into something that looks more palatable.

        For some images, I run through a second painting post edit after filtering because I can magnify to the level of the pixel and fix some of my earlier errors (clearly, I’m not always successful).

        This has become a long-winded explanation, but I wanted to make sure its clear that I need A LOT of help from apps, that it’s more complicated (but rewarding) than plugging a photo into one of the many art rendering apps (pretty, but not as much fun), and that this is a hobby that anybody could pursue, and enjoy.

          I didn’t mean to skip over your excellent writing.. I was just curious about the illustrations and guessed your process was much as you explained it. I have played around with just what I can do with iPhoto editing but fear getting into it more as I’m afraid I’d vanish into the experience and never write again.
