These roots are magnificent — are they a banyan or ficus — or something else?

I’ll try to find out. My guess would be ficus as well. They’ve cut the entire upper part off and just left roots and trunk, so. . . .

Thanks — these are not sequoia or eucalyptus roots — I’m thinking it must be a banyan or a ficus.

Or maybe a Montezuma cypress like the Tree of Tule. Thanks for the research!

They remind me of some of the huge banyan tree roots we have in SoCal! One in particular — the Moreton Bay Fig tree in Santa Barbara.
