Everyone keeps asking if the earthquake and hurricane had any effect on our weather here. I can’t notice that it has, other than a week of rain during earlier hurricanes and tropical storms last week, but this sunset two nights ago is perhaps the result, somehow, of bad weather farther away. I have not augmented the colors. They were really this brilliant!!! These photos were taken over a 15 to 20 minute time period from my deck.

Beautiful sunset shots — I love it when the color of a sunset is reflected in the sea!

This is Lake Chapala, though–over 3 hours away from the sea. I go to La Manzanilla on the ocean Jan-March and I’m in San Juan Cosala on Lake Chapala (near Guadalajara) the rest of the year. You can see Colima Volcano from my house and it is that volcano that heats the water that comes into my house. All the water comes in almost boiling hot. I cool it off in an aljibe for the house but put it directly into the pool and hot tub, mixing it with cooler water in the pool. Heaven.

The lake reflection of the sunset is as good as if it were the sea! One of the best sunsets I ever saw was the day after a wildfire, with reflection in the Santa Barbara channel — this is almost as good!

All that smoke in the air. Must have been stunning.

The wind had blown the smoke westward, over the sea — the sky and the sea were both a very rich magenta color! That was when I was a teenager, and I still remember it very vividly!

No photo I bet. We didn’t walk around with a camera in our pocket every day back then.

It was probably 60 years ago! Any photos then would have been in black and white, and would not have shown the color — sorry!

But your memory is technicolor. How fortunate.

It is fortunate as long as the technicolor isn’t exaggerated — but in this case I think the scene was so spectacular it would not have been any less spectacular than my memory of it.
