Has anyone else found that when they try to switch to the new editor when editing their blog that it instead opens a new document? I also can’t reach the happiness engineers. When I hit the button to contact them after writing about the problem I’m having, it just brings me back to the form again instead of putting me in touch.
I have trouble with it too

I gave up on the “new editor” thing after several experiences like yours. And the ‘happiness engineers’ have NEVER been home in the whole time I’ve been on WP. I found going to the forums page (which is a tortuous and convoluted process that is largely un-explainable) is the best way to maybe find an answer to a problem you might be having…or someone on the forum might have an answer. WP does need to step up their customer service from a technical point of view. It’s highly annoying.

I don’t ever use the new editor. You use a computer (not a pad) for blogging. Type your URL and /wp-admin/index.php behind it. That will take you to your old editor. That is all I use. It’s the old dashboard. Here is what my string looks like….

Yes, I can’t get it to let me use the new editor originally, but after writing and editing in the old editor, I always save and switch to the new editor because it gives me a “finder’ to find all the categories. Old editor doesn’t. But just today, this suddenly doesn’t work.

WP does funky things at times.

It will probably be fixed, but don’t know how to inform them when their site that lets you tell about problem doesn’t work itself.

It’s broken in a lot of different way. My comments and likes look as if they are going through, but when I go to the reader to check, they are gone. Vanished, as if they were never there. So far, my template is still working — but I lost 80% of my responses overnight earlier in the week. And when you look online, people who normally are quite lively have no responses or close to it. They are doing it. Again. Someone suggested to try using an older template and that might work. As for getting in touch, when things get this bad, they go OUT of touch.

aha.. that’s why our happiness engineers are not reachable. Got it.

Were these the responses you made or ones made to your blog? Have you been getting mine? What do you mean “using an older template”? Questions, questions.

Oh Judy, my heart goes out, but I learned the hard way that if we focus on blogging about WordPress problems we won’t have time to blog about much else. It seems that now that they have numbers as large as those that they have reached that they truly do not care anymore about the desires of the folks who helped them build the platform. (Will the kids never learn?)
It’s ALWAYS something anymore, and when you DO reach those “Happiness Engineers” their job seems to be to stall until enough folks complain (really? if we name them that, folks won’t notice?)
They are coding to chase the TwitWit and iPhone platforms these days, not to make things functional for those of us who use our blogs for actual writing. TRULY – not intending to be negative, but the “new” is rarely “improved” on WordPress — simply different and usually buggy. True for years now.
The only way to get things done on this platform anymore is to keep a file of html addresses to the original editors, etc (i.e., anything working) and do not USE the new stuff. (copy the “address” in the little box at the top of your browser — or bookmark and keep handy). Let others be their unpaid beta testers.
PS – I change/add/find etc. tags & categories ALL the time & *only* use the old editor.
xx,
mgh
