It does have the same texture of the fruit of the pandanus plant. I looked it up after reading your comment. I’d never seen one before.

I guess pandanus is a Hawaiian plant — many of your flowers are very similar to those in Hawaii

I am not sure, but It looks to me like Lophophora williamsii, better known as Peyote. 🙂
