The Magician
Through what I choose and where I give in,
I create the world I live in.
If I’m a trickster, I trick myself
and lay my talents on a shelf.
Seize control and I gain the world,
all my inner self unfurled.
Magic’s not a thing without
or a thing to sell or flout.
It’s simply using the strength within
to play the game of life and win.
The NapoWriMo prompt for the day is: pick a card (any card) from this online guide to the tarot, and then write a poem inspired either by the card or by the images or ideas that are associated with it.

A unique take on “magic.” It sounds true and very down-to-earth. Didn’t someone once say we make our own “good luck”?

I think within the birth circumstances granted to us, this is true.

That’s true. It’s a lot easier for a middle-class North American to say this than some girl born to a destitute family living in a slum in Asia. I think we rarely have a clue just how different our world-view is, loaded as we are with options.

The magician also used to be called the jester. Maybe he is both.

I think the jester is actually the same as the fool, Marilyn.

I love the point you bring home. Out of all games, that’s the one to win.
Here is my quest and my first rubaiyat (say what?):

Well done as usual, Manja. I love Saint Phalle’s work which I first saw in Paris,
