A Kewpie Primer for LWBUT

This type of Kewpie doll was often used as a prize in traveling carnivals in the fifties and early sixties.  They were celluloid and very brittle and crushable.  I loved them!!! These photos are in response to LWBUT’s comment on This blog entry of mine.

About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Cool – now i’ve seen my first kewpie doll !! 🙂

Cellulose? Wow… for some reason i used to think they might be ‘flannel’ or made of cloth material?

Thank you for improving my neglected education. 😉 🙂

I was happy with cellulose! 😉

(You are right though – they are different things!)

Did any of yours last the distance? Or are they long gone? 😉
