      Thanks, Janet. I’m home!!! Feels so good to be back in Mexico. Rushed around doing a dozen jobs this morning and afternoon, then a party late afternoon. Just got home. Getting reaquainted with the kitties. Roo slept with me last night, Kukla and Ollie rushed in when I got home and are keeping me company now.

        It’s always a good feeling to be home after a trip — 2 weeks is usually enough away time for me these days. You’re really busy — and I love that the cats welcomed you home!

    Beautiful capture! The pattern could also be a high-altitude shot of a city suburb with the veins being transport routes/roads, and the dark spots the habitations. :-).

      I took lots of high altitude shots on the way back from St. Louis to Guad..Incredible views once we got near Guad…You could see literally hundreds of extinct volcanoes from above.. some with triple craters. I need to get them off my camera and see how they turned out. Then when we got closer to cities..the patterns you describe.

          The photos really did turn out well, given that I was taking them through the windows of a plane. My computer takes sooooo long to edit them. Hope it is because I’m uploading 50,000 photos to the cloud on another computer linked to it. It has taken a week to upload 33,540 of them. 50,221 to go, but my wifi is sooo slow in Mexico that it took me three hours tonight to upload 5! Maddening. I can get the new photos onto my computer but takes so long to edit and then more time to transfer them to desktop. Only way I can get them to my media file is to send them to forgottenman via Skype and have him transfer them here. How I suffer for those posts! Hope this will improve once all the photos are uploaded, but I’ll still have this damn slow wifi. Pray for a new company to come lakeside soon to deliver us from Telmex–Carlos Slim’s former monopoly.

            Carlos Slim – we had him running our major telco once – He did not last long fortunately! 😉

            50,000 pics is a huge number, still if they are from a lifetime maybe not so much!

            I tend not to store mine on the cloud if i can help it, I keep my current originals on an SD card (32GB) and a back up on my pc hard drive. I have another backup on my portable pc hard drive ‘backup’ disk, and i keep my favourite/most used pics as a folder on another computer or laptop so i should be safe. 🙂

            Slow wi-fi is something i would hate – although most would consider my present speed dismally so – around a 2.6 mbs /sec download and under 1 mbps upload.

            I will be switching to 5G when i get my next computer upgrade – we have plans that are close to broadband prices for 10 times the speed.

              I have 5 G but it never reaches that speed anymore. Sunk to 2.4 but now even that is spotty and off as much as it is on. So maddening. I have 85,500 photos.. and that is just for the past 6 or 7 years..others on various storage devices, some of which are obsolete. I do have all the photos from the past 6 years on one computer and a backup drive but the easiest way to have access and to interchange between 3 Mac computers and my iphone were to go to iCloud. If it is this slow once I’m set up, I’ll have to change back again, but my computer is a 2013…last year I could get 1 T memory and was getting tempramental. My one year old 2T backup device suddenly couldn’t be recognized by the computer, so I had to erase and reformat it and got all the information on it before I started uploading to the cloud for a secondary backup and communication between computers. I prefer to have it all on one computer, but Mac keeps reducing the amount of memory on computers. This was suggested by a tech guy I trust so trying it out, but I may have to take my Pro on vacation to some place with better internet to get it all uploaded. In Missouri it was still slow, but not this slow. Now down to 3 per hour. Ridiculous.

              Wow! The internet and computing companies want us to keep most of our data in the Cloud, so they can charge us a regular income stream for them rather than keep it ourselves for free, hence the shrinking pc memory. But i don’t get the hard drive not being recognised anymore – that’s not good.

              How does 5G go so slow?? i’m in a pretty densely populated area but 5G has not been taken up by very many yet so the speeds are often around the 100mb/s range – 50 times faster than my ADSL2+

              The way technology keeps ‘improving’ it’s going to be very difficult keeping up with developments AND keeping a personal hold on old valued data/images. 😦
              But what choice do we get?
