About lifelessons

My blog, which started out to be about overcoming grief, quickly grew into a blog about celebrating life. I post daily: poems, photographs, essays or stories. I've lived in countries all around the globe but have finally come to rest in Mexico, where I've lived since 2001. My books may be found on Amazon in Kindle and print format, my art in local Ajijic galleries. Hope to see you at my blog.

Okay!!! The game is on. Don’t make me say at this advanced

Was one of her books made into a film? I’ve either seen it or read one of her books..Thanks for revealing your mystery. Love Jane Austen by the way. I went to see her house when in Great Britain..years ago. I think I’ve read all of her books a minimum of two times.. some three.

I don’t think so, although she IS a screen writer
And has written at least 20 screenplays that I know of but for other things. I don’t believe any of her books have been turned into movies yet. I love it! Another Jane Austen fan😊. Syrie goes to Jane Austen conventions where they all dress up in that era on one of the evenings. She makes her own dresses for those times. She was just recently in the Rose Parade on one of the floats too😊. You’re welcome!

    Here goesJudy,
    ——
    Sexiest is Brigitte Bardot
    ——-
I adore steak tartare, but with my cancer it would kill me.
    ——
Close friends would never believe how shy I am.
    ——
Most famous I’ve met are Pope Saint John 23 who granted my parents, sister and me a family audience in the Vatican Oct 1961, and the duke of Windsor, a friend of mum who I often visited in Paris. We shared the same loss of so much we could have done had it not been for our acute agoraphobia all our lives.
    ——-
My famous friend would be Chinese classical pianist Yuja Wang for her music, great sense of humour and love for people of all races.
    ——–
My greatest regret is seeing my Vietnamese wife and our daughter, being killed in Saigon by a mortar shell and attending their funeral.
    ——-
I still occasionally wear a jersey I bought in Paris 1962
    ——
We still use the old potato masher my grandmother brought with her from Australia in 1938! Now that’s gross nostalgia 🙂
    ———
I only had one real close pet, our Labrador dog who guarded my sister and me all our childhood.
    ——
I have no idea who I most resemble, the world’s a big place. But whoever it is I know God loves them too!
    ——
I love warm comfy slippers, not old age, I always have.
    ——
Finally the question I really wished I had asked. I didn’t ask my Dad, who died when I was 30, why he never said whether he believed in God or not. I think it was because he was my best friend, I loved him too much and was scared of the answer.

    Ciao love. Anton

How much I learned about you from your answers, Anton. I had no idea you suffered from agoraphobia. You have never mentioned that before. And, I didn’t know the Duke of Windsor did, either. A very interesting read. Thanks for playing along. xo

    I’ll play along!
Who in your opinion is the sexiest man (if you are a woman) or woman (if you are a man) who ever lived? Henry VIII in his youth.
What favorite food do you rarely eat and why? Cheese, please! And I had to give it up because of pancreas issues.
What would your closest friends be most surprised to find out about you? I’ll take the 5th on this one. If my closest friends do not know, do you think I would publish it?
Who is the most famous person you ever met and what were the circumstances? Simon Wiesenthal, the famous Nazi hunter. I had to deliver some information to him, when I got out of the USSR, and since I was traveling through Vienna, it was very convenient, as I had had to memorize the information.
What famous person would you most like to have as a close friend and why? Dr Ruth Westheimer. She speaks English with the same accent as my great-grandmother spoke Russian and she has a wicked sense of humor.
What is your biggest regret in life? I don’t think I have any.
What is the strangest pet you ever had? An Iguana called Azzi (short for Azazello, a character in Bulgakov’s Master and Margarita). Azzi would sit on my shoulder and eat grated apple from my finger. Guests freaked out.
What is the item of clothing you have owned for the longest period of time? My grandmother’s Orenburg dawn shawl. I still have it.
What object in your house holds the most nostalgic value for you? My mother’s piano.
What question do you wish you had asked a deceased relative but didn’t? I wish I had spent more time with my great-grandfather to get more family history details on his side. As it is, I am still digging in books and on the internet and finding out amazing connections.
Who in the world (relative or not) do you most resemble? That’s easy: I look like my father, may he rest in peace. But I’ve been also told in my youth that I resembled both Portrait of Unknown Woman by Kramskoj and The Clothed Maja by Goya.
What is your favorite footwear and why? Flamenco shoes, for obvious reason – I wear them to dance.
You can publish this, Judy, if you wish.

I thought I had mentioned my phobia in the odd blog I certainly have in novels and poems. I had to give up golf and cricket among other things, and only had one girlfriend I ever went out with between age 14 &18 because I never knew where a date might want to go. Moving to Paris at 18 changed my life. But postings like Mid East(67) Indochina (68-71)N.Ireland(74-76) & Gulf(91-92) saw me use prayers, pills & Pernod to survive. Next month I’ll celebrate 52 years on valium every single day! But I never got drunk!!😇
Re duke of Windsor his family never publicly spoke of his illness, considering it a form of insanity. I suffered from that too as having a phobia from age five was considered attention seeking. My mum just thought I loved acting. But at least I can empathise with all people in need, inherited a sense of humour and loved three wives (2 tragically RIP) who believed me. This medium has literally been a Godsend and let me know people like you!
    Ciao,xo Anton.
