Travel Grump
Look at all those spendthrifts paying for the view
as though it is a contest to spend their cash anew
on hotel after hotel, on safaris, tours and cruises–—
climbing up Mount Everest, amassing scrapes and bruises.
I’ll keep my money in my pocket. I’ve worked for it too hard,
and simply do my viewing here in my backyard.
Prompt words today are view, spendthrift , and contest.
A concept after my own heart. My Beloved Sandra travels; I live out on the deck, overseeing the mountains.

I’m looking at maybe one or two more “big” trips — then within the US.

Ah, but you do have one gorgeous backyard. Actually, you have a wonderful view everywhere. I am glad we live in the country. I don’t think staring out of city windows would work for me. Since it seems I have to be here, I might as well have green and birds and flowers than cement, even when it leads to better restaurants.

Excellent idea, staying put. Missed my flight. Put in wrong line at airport. Leave Sunday. Have a 14, yes, 14, hour layover! In Houston! Hope i can find a liberal to talk with. Wish I were not going. (Not strictly true but it best fit your title’s attitude issues with which I am in accord a bit more than not.) Also, my computer charger is kaput. They shoot horses, don’t they?
Wow. We’re it not for fat-finger editing, this way of writing could be fun. Life goes on. xoxo, Glen

My homebodiness is growing stronger all the time. With a lovely view anytime, why go anywhere? Cute little poem!

Then again, my backyard, so to speak as I live in an apartment, is the view of a propane tank and then a parking lot . . .

Well, yes. There are reasons for travel, I’ll admit, but then there is always interior space.

This is so beautiful 💕 and such genuine wisdom… A huge problem with our culture is the achieve more, buy more attitude. Sadly it even seeps to seep into our leisure time too! Xx
